Bloomberg Businessweek has a nice write-up of Startup America's efforts to educate lawmakers on the unique needs of ambitious startups and, in doing so, get those companies more assistance. It's common to conflate new businesses with small businesses, and that ignores the barriers to achieiving the supercharged growth rates of a would-be Facebook. But the organization is also putting its money where its mouth is, by enlisting supportive corporations like Google and Dell to donate their services — to the tune of $1.2 billion.
Their challenge is big, but their motive is simple: According to representative (and AOL co-founder) Steve Case, “if you care about the economy…the place to focus is high-growth companies.”
