We may long for the sleepaway camps of our youth, but today teens have a new, modern day option for how to spend their summer. Make Magazine just launched an online camp on Google+, called Maker Camp, a Do-It-Yourself camp that encourages a summer of innovation and building. It’s free, and takes place every Monday-Thursday from July 16 - August 24. Each morning, counselors from Make Magazine will give participants a project to complete (like building a compressed air rocket!). After spending the morning creating, participants spend their afternoons back in the Google+ Hangout, meeting other campers and discussing their finished projects and shared interests. Oh, and Fridays are reserved for an “epic field trip” via the Google+ Hangout.
All that’s missing is the campfire.
