Thanks to the wonders of commercial aviation, even the farthest-flung locations are now within reach. But our modes of transport aren’t always the most environmentally friendly — something that, as CNET reports, NASA wants to change. By 2025, the agency wants aircraft to run on half the fuel and release half the harmful emissions, all while bringing airport noise pollution down 83% (compared to planes that date from 1998). To prove that’s possible, they’ve partnered with companies like Boeing and Lockheed Martin to produce game-changing designs like those above.
